IRCC document translation service
Birth Certificate Translation for IRCC Applications
Birth certificates are used in many immigration and citizenship processes to document identity, parentage and civil status. If your IRCC application asks for a birth certificate and the document is not in English or French, we can translate the certificate and the visible official information it contains.
Independent service: IRCC Translation is not affiliated with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada or the Government of Canada.
Birth records we translate
We translate the visible content of a range of birth and civil-registry records.

IRCC instructions come first
Whether a birth certificate is required, and how its translation must be prepared, depends on the IRCC program and the applicant’s circumstances. Translation requirements can vary by program and translator status.
Check the current IRCC guidance on supporting documents and translations and the checklist for your application.
What we translate
The translation can include the certificate holder’s name, date and place of birth, parents’ names, registration number, registration and issue dates, issuing authority, signatures, stamps, seals, handwritten annotations and other visible text.
We translate the information shown on the document without changing names, dates or civil-status information.

Name spellings and transliteration
If a name appears in a non-Latin script, tell us the spelling used in the applicant’s passport or other primary immigration documents. The source document is still translated faithfully, but this can help us identify consistency issues before the translation is finalised.
Before uploading
Please provide a clear scan of the complete certificate, including any reverse side containing official text. Tell us the source language, target language and the IRCC application or purpose. If your instructions require a particular translator status, affidavit or supporting document, tell us when requesting the quote.
